That doesn't mean I don't enjoy 25 man raiding and success either, but 10 man is so much more... intimate, fast, productive? I don't know the word to use. It's less chaotic, less dramatic, less frustrating, and more productive. We did 9 of 12 bosses in ICC last night in 2.5 hours. Two of which I had never seen us succeed at, and we two shotted both. Our portal healers rocked Dreamwalker, and I kicked some raid healing ass on the outside, thanks Zan and Ghost! And Blood Queen was cake. Maybe it's because we've been working on her in 25's, but it was so much easier with just 10 people. The night before we also (though I was absent) finally got Dreamwalker and BQ down in 25 man. Time to visit Prof and Sindy in 25's on Sunday! We only raid three nights a week. We consider ourselves a casual guild, but when it comes to raiding we get serious. I love working on a boss, feeling that frustration, but also watching us learn and improve each attempt. When we finally do get it it's a wonderful feeling!Pixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265081612025972541.post-66897347517622693802010-04-06T20:39:00.000-07:002010-04-06T20:53:25.061-07:00Rant!I haven't visited here in a while. But something annoyed me enough tonight to come write.

I have been informed by my GM that "Resto Druids are Dead Last when it comes to effective tank healing". Can anyone explain this? I realize pallies kick ass at tank healing. And I realize I'm a great raid healer, but I am also a pretty kick ass tank healer. Why put a holy pally and a holy priest on tanks EVERY F'ING RAID, all raid long? Don't they get bored too? And aren't holy priests pretty kick ass raid healers?

In what order would you list best tank healers? Best raid healers?

Does anyone have any info, math/spec/talents specific, that discusses the benefits of certain classes raid vs. tank healing?

Sorry for the rant, I'm just at a loss tonight.Pixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265081612025972541.post-34302721004854859352009-04-10T10:28:00.000-07:002009-04-10T10:32:43.440-07:00Here and Gone? We'll See...I have not been able to dedicate the time I wanted to this blog. I recently left a large guild, and moved to a smaller one that I honestly am not sure is going to work out. I've spent a lot of time raiding and after taking a short break with my druid realized just how much time I had been... well, not wasting, but not spending on other more important real life priorities. I will probably run around on alts, but I don't think I'll be spending nearly as much time online as I have over the last year or so. I want to keep this blog, and one day come back to it when I've got my head on a bit straighter... but for now it'll be a bit more sporadic... hopefully if I come back to it I can take the time to write some real articles/guides/etc. =)

Thanks to those who read my random thoughts and have sent encouragement along the way... you will certainly still be read on a daily basis! =)Pixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265081612025972541.post-13836172581970981572009-04-08T09:15:00.000-07:002009-04-09T07:01:46.785-07:00Food For ThoughtDisclaimer... the below made me giggle, I do not, however, necessarily agree with it! =)

Quote of the day from the WoW forums:

"How to avoid bad pugs: Never play with people who show The Explorer, Challenger, or Jenkins."

I have none of these, I wonder if that makes me a good candidate for a pug... And I feel a bit relieved to be quite honest. Looking forward to running around and doing some group quests solo and see how much I can take on. It's been awhile so it'll take a little getting used to, especially with all the new talents, but it's a welcome change. More to follow... but it's late and I need bed! =)Pixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265081612025972541.post-22572963534042212302009-04-06T08:41:00.001-07:002009-04-06T08:48:13.589-07:00Honest Scrap Bonus EditionSo I cheated and tagged a few people who had already been tagged in my original Honest Scrap Post... this will be the post in which I make up for that, and will probably be edited and added to on a daily basis.

To get things started I just discovered Arcane Asylum and Ultra's post on mages in OS had me literally laughing out loud. =P I was tempted to quote my favorite parts, but I'd hate to do that without his permission. My lock turned 70 and guess what little treat she got... Yep, Seed of Corruption, Woohoo! And my Shammy turned 75, right as she killed (well elemental healed, not half badly if I do say so myself) Mr. Herald Volazj in Old Kingdom. Lava Burst is now one of my hotkeys. Really?!?!~Rant ahead, don't say I didn't warn you... ~

I've done a lot of silly things over the last few years, so I'm not really one to talk, but I've got something on my mind and I have to get it out... no matter how crazy anyone might think I am. I leveled Resto... then went Feral... then went back to Resto. Let's just say I've been Resto more than I have been Feral, though I love both specs. Many classes in WoW have spells in certain trees that might benefit another spec in addition to it's own, which I think is fantastic. For example, Balance has several talents that give bonuses to Resto spells. Furor has always been in the Resto tree for as long as I can remember, though I didn't play until BC came out so it may have been in the Feral tree before that.

"Furor 5/5: Gives you 100% chance to gain 10 Rage when you shapeshift into Bear and Dire Bear Form, and you keep up to 100 of your Energy when you shapeshift into Cat Form, and increases your total Intellect while in Moonkin form by 10%."

Furor does absolutely NOTHING for a Resto druid. Nothing. Unless someone is fighting mobs in kitty/bear, and I mean come on, really, who does that? Unless maybe they're PVPing... then I guess I could understand, a little. But seriously... it's a talent that does nothing for the spec it's intended for. Bonus for Cat/Bear/Moonkin, but not a Tree, not even remotely healing related. Pretty stupid if you ask me. I realize the Feral and Balance trees are pretty crammed full of talents now, so I understand putting Furor in the Resto tree... it makes it easier for everyone to get OOC, which is great... but RESTO talents should have something to do with a Resto spec, no? Granted, I might not spend talents in it even if they made it beneficial to us... but wouldn't it be nice if all of the talents in our tree actually benefitted us in some way or another? How about giving us a 10% (or even 5%) bonus in intellect like it does for Moonkins, how hard would that be? I think Blizzard does a pretty decent job, to be quite honest, but they fail miserably on this one... despite the hundreds or even thousands of druids who keep asking why this talent even exists in our tree.

~Rant Over~Pixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265081612025972541.post-72017573019928459152009-04-01T13:09:00.000-07:002009-04-01T13:13:21.558-07:00Ahhh, April Fool's!http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21585

Fantastic job WowI, seriously. =D Some people have picked up on the fact that it's a joke, but what really cracks me up is all the angry/frustrated/sad/worried posts where the posters obviously neglected to read the other posts that make it glaringly obvious that it's an April Fool's joke. Some people take life, and WoW, a little too seriously... myself included... it's always good to be reminded how important a sense of humor truly is. =)

PS... When we wipe or cannot do something we look at all participants in the raid, not just the healers. I bring this up because I just read the following on another blog:

"I got into a PuG Naxx last night on my Warrior. I was very excited about Patchwerk even though we ended up not downing him due to healers letting tanks die."

Now, this may have been the case. The healers might have sucked ass. But in a fight where tanks are getting beaten on as hard as Patch hits you really need to take into account that maybe it's not the healers' fault... maybe the tanks aren't up to par (especially in a pug where people might not be as geared as they would in a regular guild run)... maybe, just maybe one is not defense capped, or has low parry/block/dodge... things to consider folks. =(Pixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265081612025972541.post-50851586251192405852009-04-01T10:47:00.001-07:002009-04-01T11:16:56.106-07:00Fair Warning... Rants Below!I love this blog tag deal people have going on. I have found some truly wonderful blogs that I, most likely, wouldn't have found otherwise. They're all listed in my Blog Links now. =) A few of them are informative but a bit cynical... right down my alley... and they've got me thinking lately. My main is a resto druid, whom I love dearly, but I am so tired. Tired of healing, tired of raiding, tired of limitations on what my alts are allowed to raid/pug when they are never used in our regular 25mans... Tired of WoW in general aside from my alts. Miss Elf posted a while back about DPS who think their jobs are harder than ours. All we have to do is sit and watch green health bars and heal. DPS who say their jobs are harder than ours (who I used to try to empathize with) can die in a fire right now. ALL of our jobs are hard in one way or another. They require knowledge, practice, and attention to detail. Tanks, healers, and DPS are all important and all have easy or hard jobs based on the way you look at it.

I want to be on my mage more, and I want my shammy and hunter to be 80, and I cannot wait to go feral as my 2nd spec on my druid in 3.1. I want to rip faces apart. Is that so wrong? =) I am tired of my main right now, and I honestly feel a bit guilty about that. I feel guilty because I love her to pieces, she's my first 70 and now 80 and I love playing her, and knowing I do a damn fine job of it, but I am bored to tears raiding on her right now. And I don't know if I should quit altogether, or just skip raids on my main (because 4 hours in Naxx/OS/Maly/Etc 4 nights a week seems like a waste of time that I could be leveling an alt or, God forbid, actually living real life). The only reason to farm these would be for DKP since the majority of the guild has the gear they need from them... and at this point I'd rather be having fun than worry about how much DKP I have to use for Ulduar. I have a ton of fun raiding on my mage, when I get the opportunity to pug. Our guild rules are strict as far as waiting until mains have cleared everything for the week, so I would need to wait until Sun/Mon and then pug like crazy on my mage and risk guildies getting pissy because I make time to raid on my mage but not my main who they really could use in 25's. And here comes the guilt factor again. I've told a few people I'm taking a break from Wow for a bit and have been running around on alts, by now my poor mage is feeling neglected. Is it wrong not to play a character out of fear of guilt? I am really messed up in the head today... I know I will want my druid to be my main for Ulduar, but I just can't bring myself to get excited about raiding right now aside from Sarth 3D, which we have yet to down... which leads to more frustration... I think I'll quit this rant while I'm... ahead? Behind? Before I shove my foot too far in my mouth, let's just put it that way. =PPixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265081612025972541.post-21919308565851160642009-03-22T21:07:00.000-07:002009-03-22T21:14:27.439-07:00Green Dress Day, Woohoo!!!Despite my usual utter lack of interest in clothes matching, I'm a tree after all, I have been pining over the Valorous Chest piece. I have had 3 Valorous pieces and the Heroes chest for quite some time, and for some reason it was really bothering me that I was still wearing the ugly purple/brown chest surrounded by pretty, shiny, green and yellow gear. And tonight after OS we did a quick run through the construct quarter and Gluth dropped it. And everyone else passed, thank goodness. Me = Happy Tree! Granted, it'll probably disappear once Ulduar opens up in 3.1 but still... I match for now.

Oh, and in other tree news, our own Phaelia has a piece named after her: http://ptr.wowhead.com/?item=45237 Phaelia's Vestments of the Sprouting Seed. A fabulous tribute to someone who has taught many of us the art of being a tree. =)Pixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265081612025972541.post-24817894832950820512009-03-20T07:40:00.000-07:002009-03-20T11:22:43.818-07:00Welcome!Welcome to my little corner of the world! I'm not sure how many people will actually wind up reading this, but at least it will give me a little outlet for the thoughts that go through my head on a daily basis. =P

A little about me... I've been playing WoW since right after BC came out. I started on a gnome mage, but for some reason decided I liked my druid better. And then I did the unthinkable. I leveled her resto, because I honestly didn't know any better. I assumed if I wanted to heal I had to be resto. I hit about level 67 and switched to feral and sped through those last few levels... regretting not having specced feral much earlier. I stuck with feral for a bit as I enjoyed the change, but eventually went back to resto when we switched from a PVP server to a PVE server. Ah, Exodar, how I love thee. Cho'gall was a nightmare. I will never go back to a PVP server... well maybe, if I level an OP class just for the purpose of PVP, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

My druid, Pixiedark, is my main and has now completed Naxx 10 and 25, VOA, EOE 10 and 25 (25 as of last week, woohoo) and OS 1D. My little mage got dragged around by guildies to a ton of heroics as soon as she hit 80, and I actually found out from a friend that I was just a Heroic Strat and 10 Man Maly away from getting the Champion of the Frozen Wastes title on a 2nd character! I have yet to do Maly... alts haven't started running it yet, but I am hoping to before 3.1 hits or I will be a very sad panda. Nobility is going to give OS 2D a shot this weekend, I am really hoping we get it down and can go for 3D soon.

I love my druid. She's my main, and she has a special place in my heart as silly as that may sound. She's more like the real me, only taller and skinnier. She's got a bit of a dark personality, but is always there to support those around her. I like helping people and fixing things, and so does she. Happily she doesn't take on as much emotionally as I do in real life when things don't go quite right! =P I've been resto for a long time, and I like to think I do my job well. Honestly, it's become pretty easy at this point, which is why I think I'm enjoying my other characters right now. When WOTLK came out everyone was afraid of the changes Druids would face... I welcomed them. I like change, despite nerfs, and I like the challenge of figuring out how to optimize my play based on those changes. Same deal with 3.1... lots of changes to come, lots of QQing going on, and I only get more and more excited. I may be cranky sometimes, but I am an optimist at heart. Oh, and I cannot wait to go feral as my other spec in 3.1. I've been collecting offspec gear (at half DKP) in raids and picking up gear in heroics as I can, and I am so excited to put on that gear in feral spec and see what the #'s look like. I miss my face smashing BamBamKittyRawrBear!

My mage, Pixielight, is a whole different story from my druid. She's the happy, fun, playful, silly one. And despite my love for my druid, my mage may just be my favorite character at the moment. She has been hating the guild rules about pugging, because we were not allowed to pug anything aside from 10 man Naxx/OS with no drakes and VOA, and is happy some of the rules have been changed to allow alts to pug after we've cleared everything for the week. Granted, that means fitting in a lot of raiding in on Sunday and Monday... but it's a nice change nonetheless. I have a tendency to strive for perfection... or at least be well educated, so I read a LOT on the forums and elsewhere when I was leveling her up to 80. She's been to Naxx 10, OS 10, and VOA a few times and been lucky on some drops. She's decently geared and is a blast to play, and is putting out more DPS than I thought she would at this point. I cannot wait to see how she'll do in 25mans.

Next in line is my 72 shammy. She's elemental and she may very well go resto when she hits 80. I have this thing for healing it seems... I'm leaving her out of the guild for now so she can pug whatever she likes when she hits 80 and gear up, maybe that's selfish but lately it seems it's easy to pug most raids and be successful and not have to worry about guildies being upset about me being on another character instead of doing blasted Hodir dailies for a minor upgrade to a shoulder enchant. =P It might sound crazy, having two healers, but with dual specs it'll be nice to have two healers I can bring to raids/heroics/etc since we always seem to be in demand. I have a feeling I'll be spending 1000G on Piari so she can go Ele/Resto instead of making my mage Arcane/Frost, but who knows... maybe I'll put enough away by then I can do dual specs on all three.

I also have a 69 Lock, 71 Hunter, and several lower level alts but the ones listed above are the ones I'm really enjoying right now. Well, I enjoy my lock, but she's not a huge priority right now... she's the one I level when I run out of rest XP on Piari. =P

OK, I think that's most definitely a long enough intro. Looking forward to rambling, venting, and maybe even sharing words of wisdom here and there. =)Pixielatedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16037663875145533732noreply@blogger.com0
